Option 1: Send Money Online (Website or Mobile App)
1. Create/Sign In
to Your Account
Go to Western Union website westernunion.com or open/download the Western Union app.
Sign in or create a free account.
2. Choose “Send
Money”
Enter the recipient’s country,
amount, and delivery method (cash pickup, bank account, or mobile
wallet).
3. Enter Recipient
Details
For cash pickup: Enter the
recipient’s full legal name (must match their ID).
For bank transfer: Enter
recipient’s bank details (bank name, account number, etc.).
For mobile wallet: Enter
recipient’s phone number (must be linked to a supported mobile wallet).
4. Choose Payment
Method
Pay using your credit card, debit
card, or bank account. (Some countries also allow mobile money).
5. Confirm and Pay
Review details carefully.
Pay the amount plus the transfer
fee.
6. Get MTCN
(Tracking Number)
After payment, you’ll receive a Money
Transfer Control Number (MTCN).
Share this with your recipient so they can track or collect the money.
Option 2: Send Money In Person (Agent Location)
1. Find a Western
Union Agent
Use the Western Union agent
locator online or go to a bank/post office that partners with them.
2. Prepare What
You Need
Valid ID (passport, national
ID, or driver’s license).
Recipient details (full
legal name, country, and sometimes city).
Cash (amount you want to
send + transfer fee).
3. Fill Out the
“Send Money” Form
Write recipient’s details exactly
as they appear on their ID.
4. Pay the Agent
Give the agent the money you’re
sending, plus the fee.
Some locations may also allow card
payments.
5. Get Receipt +
MTCN
The agent will give you a receipt
with the MTCN.
Share the MTCN with your recipient.
1. If cash pickup: Recipient goes to a
Western Union location with a valid ID and the MTCN.
2. If bank transfer: Money is deposited directly to
their account.
3.If mobile wallet: Money goes directly to their
phone wallet.
